Amy & Alex, our token pilot, injected personalty into their evening by performing a spoof of American Airlines to point fun at their lifestyle. Rich mocha's and vibrant greens oozed modern class and stayed true to the couples taste. The event was held on Whonnock lake.

"Thank you so much for an amazing evening. Your design was perfect and more than we could have asked for. You will always be our first recommendation!"

Featured Wedding~Cyrus & Maria

Maria & Cyrus were a pair to remember. The owners of a respected pharmacist in Victoria BC, they two sought out the best for the best. They were straight forward in their concept; sophisticated nature, where family could gather together and enjoy each others company in a high end fashion. In a few simple meetings, we took that vision and created a true masterpiece. Their wedding was later featured in Real Weddings Magazine.

"15 days later and we're still at a loss for words. Before all the guests arrived we were invited to take a peak at the ballroom and it was a moment that will fulfill our dreams forever. Every single one of our highly regarded vendors took the time to let us know it was one of the most beautiful rooms they had ever seen. That says it all right there. We were told you were the best and you truely showed us that! Thank you for creating a masterpiece. "

With much respect and gratitude,
Maria & Cyrus

Feature Wedding ~Kyra & Chris

WDS was thrilled when asked to execute the wedding of Krya & Chris, Son to Villa Amato's owner, Mario. The evening was stunningly clothed in yards of taffeta drape and Provence tassels. The Centerpieces dripping in elegant orange orchids amidst golden branches.

Thanks, once again to the beautiful Lori Miles, for the use of her photos.

Press~ Tanya & Jure

On 05.31.08 WDS has the pleasure of designing the wedding of Tanya & Jure's Dreams.
The exquisite event, made its appearance in the newest addition of Wedluxe, Canada's premier Wedding Magazine.

As per Wedluxe:

graphic glamour
“Elegant with a splash of glam,” is how Tanya and Jure describe their Vancouver wedding which was designed around black and white damask. The couple incorporated the damask motif throughout the entire day, starting off with a custom logo by graphic designer Jessica Boffo of Kardz Kouture. Boffo also created all of the stunning stationery used throughout the wedding day. Tanya—an interior designer with Earl’s Restaurant wore a custom off-white modified trumpet shape gown by Something Blue. The gown was covered in Alençon lace and featured an oversized (12” flower) at the waist. “The flower was my favourite part—it was dramatic and bold,” recalls Tanya. She accessorized with a vintage crystal cuff bracelet found at a vintage store in Las Vegas. Tanya’s “something borrowed” was a sparkling beaded clutch which belonged to her mother. Jure wore a classic black tailored one-button Hugo Boss tuxedo and striking black and white cufflinks to complete the ensemble. A collection of designer flasks were presented to his groomsmen. The flowers by Vivio Flower Gallery were also a study in black and white. Tanya carried a cascading bouquet of white orchids while her bridesmaids each carried one singular ‘Avalanche’ rose—built up with a cluster of petals to create the illusion of one oversized bloom. Each bouquet was then punctuated with a cluster of decorative black feathers.

reception details
The Villa Amato set the stage for a grand black and white reception with no detail overlooked. Large feathered black centrepieces and yards of black & white damask filled the room, designed by Wedding Design Studio. Guests enjoyed a myriad of treats, including an outdoor martini bar with custom cocktails named after Tanya and Jure’s favourite cities “NYNY” (New York) and “LALA” (Los Angeles). After a wonderful meal catered by Orlando’s, each guest could enjoy a custom coloured marshmallow by Butter Baked Goods. The three-tiered strawberry shortcake tuxedo cake was described by the bride as “sleek and chic.” It was created by Darleen’s Cakes who also provided the monogramed cookies which each guest took home.

The couple honeymooned in Bora Bora and Waikiki. They now reside in Vancouver.

On March 7th, 2009 WDS had the pleasure of executing a vision for the Citizens of the Year banquet held at the Meadows Gardens Golf Course, in Pitt Meadows BC.
With an abundance of chic draping, orchids amidst gem glistened branches and rich brocade fabrics, a classy corporate feel was achieved.

Just another opportunity to showcase our stylists' exquisite talents.
We look forward to next years event!

Dear Kim and Andy,
We all have dreams, and our annual dinner gave our guests time to indulge in thinking about their dreams while helping the Maple Ridge Community Foundation with its dreams and goals of supporting the many charitable causes in our community.

Thank you so much for being a part of such a special evening and for your support through your generous sponsorship of the event.

Community vitality has been our purpose since 1976 when we started connecting donors to community needs and opportunities. Together, you and your community foundation are building strong and resilient neighbourhoods.

Featured Wedding~Kathryn & Chris

Hi Kim & Andy,

Chris and I just got back from our honeymoon and I wanted to email you to thank you sooooo much for everything for our wedding!!! Everything from the décor of the ballroom to the flowers to the tiny little details of the “chocolate bar” you did an amazing job!! When Chris and I walked in to the ballroom, which we snuck a peak before everyone else, I started to cry. The room was beyond STUNNING!!! I had dreamt about what it would look like but you blew away every single expectation!! We hardly recognized the room. We honestly can’t thank you enough!! The whole day was magical but all your work really made everything come together and it wouldn’t have been the same without you. THANK YOU!!! Also, the flowers, oh the flowers! The girl’s bouquets were beautiful but mine! I have no words to express how beautiful it was! I was shocked when I saw it and am completely thrilled at how it turned out. Again, STUNNING!!! I can go on, and on because the décor was on of my most favorite parts of our wedding. We can’t thank you enough!! Can’t wait to send you some pictures! We will obviously be sure to recommend you to everyone we know without a doubt!!Thank you again a million times over!!

Kathryn and Chris

Thanks to the wonderful Lori Miles, for the photos

In the Press

The following article, featured in a local newspaper, shares the story of Wedding Design Studio Owners Kim & Andy Raddysh and their path to success

Wedding Design Studio
Is setting the standard for beautiful weddings

For 20 years, local décor and floral specialists Wedding Design Studio have
raised the bar for Lower Mainland Brides with trend setting designs.

The family business began in 1989, in Kim & Andy Raddysh’s small Pitt Meadows home. With a small child to care for, it was the perfect setting to raise their daughter and build a small business. When their wedding business grew out of their first home, they moved to a larger split level house in central Maple Ridge. They began by using their double garage, soon discovered more space was needed. The 1500 sq ft suite in the basement allowed them to create a small studio and more storage and work space for the business. A few years later an addition was built to accommodate the overflowing inventory supply.

As their inventory, ideas, and clientele grew, the space of their home could not keep up. The old saying , “ You have to leave home to really grow up” worked perfectly here. In 2006, Wedding Design Studio expanded out of their home and into a 5000 sq ft Studio warehouse on Dewdney Trunk Rd. Quite a step from the beginning of a small, single car garage and a spare bedroom.
Wedding Design Studio offers complete table settings, props, lighting, linens, and a floral design studio. When a Bride walks through the door, they are in for an exciting and unique experience.
“Budget minded Brides can rent quality items and install them themselves. Or we can design everything from start to finish, including amazing floral”, the owners daughter, Haley Raddysh says.

Wedding Design Studio’s client don’t just travel from Vancouver, but from all over BC, Vancouver Island and Canada, and around the world. Urban downtown chic is now available in the suburbs. Local Brides are ecstatic to find what Wedding Design Studio has to offer in your town, Maple Ridge. A recent visitor to the Studio commented, “ I’m so proud to have a store of this quality in Maple Ridge!”
They have established themselves as one of the most highly credible and respected décor companies in the Lower Mainland. Many of their weddings have been featured in the Real Wedding Magazine, as well as the commendable luxury magazine, Wedluxe. Wow!
Wedding Design Studio is proud of how far they have come. It has been a challenging and rewarding 20 years to earn the reputation, and recognition that they have. Although Wedding Design Studio has expanded and grown, it still possesses that down to earth, family style of business.

Consultation Prep

Most brides find the first meeting with a Decor Stylists overwhelming; So much colour, selection and styles. You come with a vision and leave more confused than ever. So to help ease your design burden, we've put together a few tips help you prepare for your Decor Consultations.

1 At your design consultation, bring swatches and photos from magazines that inspire you.

2 When renting chair covers, ensure that they have been properly cleaned and pressed, fit properly and that they touch the floor.

3 Don’t try to match the colour of the Bridesmaids dresses to the décor. The overall idea is to compliment your colour palette.

4 Don’t limit yourself to one type of fabric. Texture is as important as colour.

5 A professional designer with a wide selection of inventory can show you a sample table of your design.

6 Ensure your centerpieces are to scale based on the size of the room & the size of the guest tables.

7 Ensure all candles are in proper glassware & that they are at least 10 hr candles.

8 When you walk into your reception room, the décor should flow and your guests should say “Wow”!

9 Can your designer provide a wide variety of references and images from the latest events.

10 Does your designer discuss key focal points in your reception room.

11. Once you've set your colours STOP WATCHING those wedding shows and READING wedding magazines. IT WILL CONFUSE YOU. Your first vision is almost always the one you end up with anyways!
